World-first dance adaptation reimagines classic sci-fi film The Matrix as a thrilling mass performance. Especially created for the opening of Factory International, we have affordable tickets from £10; so everyone can get involved.
In 1999, we were offered a simple choice: red pill or blue pill? Blissful ignorance in a simulated world or a chance to follow the rabbit hole wherever it goes…
The Matrix made us question reality. What is “human”? Who is really in control? When will we wake up, see through the illusion and step into the unknown?
Since then, internet corporations have exerted huge influence in daily life – shaping public opinion, swaying our interactions with others and tracking our movements.
Now the Metaverse is about to engulf us. Is this progress or system failure? Could we break free?
Combining the hip-hop choreography of hundreds of dancers with the latest immersive design, Free Your Mind will take audiences on a thrilling journey through The Matrix and into a new realm of possibilities.
Factory International’s first world premiere and official opening show is a bold statement of intent, and not just because of its scale. The majority of the ensemble are participants from across the region, reflecting the diversity of our communities. For many of them, it will be their first major dance collaboration, and probably not their last.
This eye-opening production will stretch across the building’s ultra-flexible spaces, responding to them and harnessing the collective energy of the moment.
This is going to reconfigure your mind, body and spirit. After that, the rest is up to you.
We have a range of affordable tickets, including options from £10 for those on limited incomes. We'll be releasing them from October 2022 and across 2023. Sign up to our newsletter to find out about additional availability once the first bunch are sold out.
